Journal Quality Score (JCI QS) |
We will follow the 7 criteria method and calculated for 70 points. You can find the category wise weightage in below table.
1. International Reputation
1.1. Language of publication: Journals publishing in English language can gain more weightage than that of the journals publishing in regional languages.
1.2. International Editorial Board: Editorial board with the international experts can gain more weightage. At least, 50% of the Editorial board members should be international experts.
What does international experts mean?
If the Journal is registered (as per the ISSN) in USA, the editorial board, atleast 50%, should consist of experts from other countries.
Diversification in the editorial board is must and it should not be from only one country.
1.3. Author Diversification: How often the international authors are publishing their papers in your journal.
2. Scientific Evidence and Quality Content
Our experts will check the quality of the content, illustrations, images, graphs and tables.
Journals with the quality content can gain the more weightage.
The published papers should fall within the scope of the journal.
3. Stability / Age of the Journal
Journal should be atleast 1 year old in order to eligible for the JCI QS. For each year of the journal age, you can get 2 points and the maximum points are 10.
As per the journal frequency of publishing, you shoula have papers in every issue. Otherwise, you will be provided 1 point for each year and maximum of 5 points.
We will consider the latest 5 volumes or latest 5 years for the calculation of points.
Illustration
Case 1: If the journal is 3 years old and published papers in every issue, you will get 6 points. If the journal is 10 years old and published papers in every issue, you will get 10 points only but not 20 points.
Case-2: If the journal is 1 years old and the papers are not published in every or single issue, you will get 1 point. If the journal is 5 years old and the papers are not published in every or single issue, you will get 5 points only but not 10 points.
4. Technical Standards
We will look for various technical aspects of the journal and its published content. But, we will specifically focusing on the below aspects.
- DOI (If you don't have a DOI, please contact KVRSS Group who will provide the free Crossref membership)
- Any other digital identifiers like ADI, and V Mark (Read More).
- Elegance, Quality, Data representation and user friendly navigation of the journal website.
- Technical aspects of the PDF file like DOI linking, and any graphical representations, etc.
5. Editorial & Peer Review Standards
We will look for the following.
- Contents of PDF file: Representation of the title, ISSN, Volume / Issue / Year and any digital identifiers like DOI (Get free Crossref (DOI) membership from KVRSS Group) or alternatives like ABCDiv (Read More).
- Editorial / Peer Review Policy.
- Implementation of international standard protocols like COPE, Copyright (eg. CC, etc), etc.
- Manuscript Review Management System, if you are using it.
6. Policies
We will look for the following policies.
- Legal ownership of the content.
- Article Retraction Policy.
- Copyright transfer.
- Conflict of interest.
- Author guidelines.
- Review procedure.
- Editorial Policies.
- Reviewer guidelines.
- Editor guidelines.
- Plagiarism Policy.
7. Data Security
We will look for the following information.
- Digital Preservation Policy.
- Point of Storage / Preservation like Clockss, PKP, Self Preservation, etc.
- Data Retrieval Policy.
